I'm sure there's a few on here that witnessed me popping my oil cooler 10 minutes before the 2008 MORE Toys 4 Tots race. Now she gets a heater and no rev! Thank God for Doug Silcock having the loaner cooler or else I wouldn't been able to break the car on the last lap and leave me and ChipCo hiking.

I seam to remember a strange bush creature jumping out of the sticks next to a broke down turd wagon and scaring poor Jeremy so bad he pooped himself. Talk about seeing something pop!

Just for clarification...Black paint dissipates heat better than other colors of paint. But ANY paint on the cases is like wrapping a blanket around it. Some blankets may be cooler than others, but they all keep one warmer than no blanket.

How would the color of the paint affect heat dissipation?
that's not an accusation im just curious.

Heat energy is closely related to light energy. Have you ever noticed the difference in temperature between a white car parked in the sun and a black car parked beside it? The black absorbs the heat from the sunlight and passes it to the metal underneath, the white paint reflects the light and heat, and feels much cooler to the touch. The engine case works just the reverse. The heat in this case is inside and radiates out into the surrounding air. Black paint passes the heat out more readily than a light color such as white. Some paints are high in heat-transferring metal content (such as aluminum) and transfer heat better than black in spite of being brighter color. Regardless of that, as I said before, most paints serve as a blanket holding heat in.
