Mace, Don’t let these guys mess with your head! Spools are awesome for Traction ! especially when you start climbing hills! You won’t believe how much easier your car will climb! As for the turning, It will only be tight when you unload to go through Tech on the pavement! When you’re out in the dirt, you won’t even notice it! So put it in, and get your “RaceFace” on! Looking forward to seeing you out There! Dave G

I have locked differential's on my toyota 4 rnr front and rear and the traction is great----but like Bill Savage said the car will tend to push in corners and steering will be very difficult in tight technical areas. On a short course where you can power slide thru the corners it would be a lot of fun. I was going to weld the spiders on mine but decided not to --as far as the rules go it is legal with SCORE I checked on that when I was building my trans. I will be very interested in what you think of it!

Are you saying that Bill Savage OK'ed a locker for the Class 11 trans, or for the Toyota. If he OK'ed it for the 11's, did he put it in writing?

When I was building my class 11 trans I asked about welding the spider gears and would that fall under "other internal modifications" he didn't have problem with that. Nothing in writing just the rule book that say's other internal modifications are optional seemed to cover it. As long as you are using the super diff. carrier and the correct ring and pinion. A spool is not exactly the same as welding the spiders but the result is the same. It's all how you interpret the rules.
