Do bus stub shafts work in Stock IRS brakes?? 1 Year, 9 Months ago Karma: 3
Like the title says, do bus stub shafts work in Type 1 hubs?

I picked up a set of 924 cv/axles and need stub shafts. I know the 924 stubs and thing stubs work, but cannot remember if the bus stubs do.. I keep thinking no but I just want to make sure

Check out the Blindchicken racing site they have the measurements and interchange info.
Robert, The 944 axle assemblies I purchased at the recycler had CVs that when cleaned off had the VW stamp. I NAPA had the same part number for Type 2 and the 944 replacement CV joint.

There are subtle differences between the type 2 and type 4 (924/944/thing=181) CV's. But not much at all. I do not have my CV's in hand to tell you if they are marked with VW on them. However, I can tell you that a significant number of parts on a 924 have the VW mark on them (including motor parts)

"Any type 1, 2 or 181 stub axle and any VW CV (thing or 181 included)and any VW CV joint."

I am still confused why they would allow a type 2 stub if it will not fit the type 1 rear drums....

The 924 was originally designed for VW by Porsche then they had a change of heart and the car was rebadged by them, there were some off the production line that came marked Volkswagen. Porsche also designed the fast back. That is probably why but, I know that Scott at MetalCraft would probably have the answer.....It should fit, have you tried it?????

what if I told you VW never has made a CV joint, EVER!!! LOBRO Germany ring a bell, SOOO where does this leave us, I have found several different "Volkswagen" factory Racing cars with VERY large CV Joints. HMM As far as the over size bus stub, you would NOT be able to use that because you are limited to type 1 drums only so that would not fit. Getting back to the CV thing, it leaves a pretty wide open interpretation because a VW sitting in my back yard has large cvs on it and last I checked it was 1 of any VWs that has CVs on it just like a VW factory built rally car built in 1980. HHMMMM, there are a crap load of any VWs out there, good luck!
