Careful!!!!
There is only 2 ways to check for stock 1600 CC.
Pull the head or PG Tool.

what is a PG tool?
When we pull the heads off, what are we looking for or mesuring to tell if it is a 1600 and not something else?

When you pull the one head off you need to measure the diameter of the piston/cylinder!
Verify the dimension with a stock 1600 cc Piston/ cylinder Diameter size.
I call it the P&G Tool.
The P&G tool is a device that measures the volumn of a cylinder, usually costs about a $1000.00.
They have this tool at the race courses to measure the cc of the limited motor classes.
Hopefully someone can step in to finish this answer.

no!!!!!!!!!

stock motors are not 1600. Stock motors are 1584.
P&G pump down probably wont find the difference in a stock motor vs. 1600 but if stroke is ever checked.............

So we got our engine last night and we got an aftermarket crank pulley "Scat" but I guess he forgot to give us bolts for the pully, because there are threads on the end but we have no bolt. Can we use a grade 8.8 bolt from hard ware store, what size would it be?

Are these engines NOT referred to as 1600's ?? Even in literature from the VW Factory ??

NO, 11's can not use the off-set ground crankshafts that "1600" cars can, for a "true" "1600 cc" engine..

its not the whole crank, it just the pully on the end. (IE the stock pully has holes and no timing marks, this is a solid one with timining marks, but they are the same diameter.)

its not the whole crank, it just the pully on the end for the generator belt. (IE the stock pully has holes in it and no timing marks, but the scat has no holes and timing marks, but they are the same diameter)
