Hey crew! Have a problem with the heads on the 1300 car. There are cracks between the seats on 3 of the 4 cyls. They were done by FAT & look to be pretty nice units. Who would you recommend to weld them or would it be cheaper to just buy a new set of heads? The casting # that I found are 4.01 under the head & CB 044 under the rocker covers.

What size motor do you have Lee and how big are the cracks?

The motor is an 1835. The cracks are not real big, and are between the the valves from seat to seat.

Might try Rimco in Santa Ana. I believe they are off of Dyer Rd.

Probably need to have someone look them over first and see what type of condition they're in as far as re-conditioning goes.

Lee,

Save yourself the headache and send them directly to RIMCO, they do all FAT's bore/weld/bore work anyway. Then FAT does valve job and final assembly. Top quality workmanship on both companies parts.

Thanks guys.....Going to call Rimco tomorrow & get them shipped to them. We are also shipping the carb off to FAT for the dry sump treatment. These VW motors are SOOOO simple! I can`t believe that I didn`t get into them sooner!
Next stop.........Primm!
