a '68 is kinda the \"worst\" of both worlds...ball joint front & swing axle rear, where the '69 & later are ball joint & irs....just a matter of what you like & can make work. mine is being built based on a '72 bug. The price was right !!

Our 11 car is a 68. The reason I picked a 68 is it's the same suspension configuration as a class 9 car long axle swing axle tranny and ball joint front suspension. I know I hit stuff way harder in my 9 car than I ever would in the 11 and It held up very good. We've had 0 axle and 0 ball joint problems so I like the 68!!

Well I need a car first. Keep me abreast of any deals on cars that are too good to pass up! Since this would be my second build I would be the sole owner, and I think I could design something truely special.
Is this a Mexican Beetle? If so, they came with a fuel injected motor which you would have to change to carbureted. Some had front disk brakes some didn't. I would ask on the CODE or RECORD racing boards if anyone who races there has had to change the brakes to drum or if they even care. Can't imagine anyone here in the US complaining about it as won't add an advantage to you. Outside of the that they are the same, minus some minor cosmetics on the body
